Why should you have an estate plan? An estate plan puts you in control of how and to whom your property is distributed after your death. If you die intestate (without a will) then the provincial laws take effect and they may not be designed to meet your family needs or your desires. Another reason for estate planning is to reduce or possibly eliminate estate taxes. Estate planning is an ongoing process and can be as simple or complex as your changing needs require.
